Calling ALL VOLUNTEERS for Band Camp II !!

As promised, here you will find the official Volunteer Request for volunteers for Band Camp II, which is rapidly approaching!

A few reminders before we get into the details of the volunteer request:

Band Camp II will take place on Saturday, August 7th, and Monday through Friday, August 9th through the 13th, from 9:00AM to 9:00PM.

Volunteers are needed to assist all day, every day, with the organization as indicated below. You may sign up for singular or multiple sessions on the same day or different days. Obviously, more help means a lower burden put on any one person. So, please do your part to help out.

Description of Volunteer Needs

Shift Name

Shift Time

Responsibilities

# of Volunteers Needed

Set-up

8am to 9am

· Set out chairs, pop-up tents and misting tent.

· Prep ice, water, Gator-Aid, towels in ice water and snacks.

· Help kids get equipment down to field.

Note: It would be best if this shift in particular had the same people each day for consistency purposes.

1 – 3 needed

1st shift

9am to noon

· Monitor kids as they practice.

· Typical parental supervision and problem solving.

· Make sure kids get plenty of ice/water, cold towels, and sun protection.

5 – 6 would be ideal

Lunch

Noon to 1pm

· Monitor lunch and wipe down tables afterwards.

1-2 needed

2nd Shift

1pm to 5pm

· Monitor kids as they practice.

· Typical parental supervision and problem solving.

· Note that kids are in band room and/or cafeteria so this is a lighter shift/responsibility.

· Having at least three around allows the parents to drift off and take care of other stuff while leaving at least one or two on site.

1-3 needed

Dinner

5pm to 6pm

· Monitor dinner and wipe down tables afterwards.

Note: We’ll need more on Wednesday night when we actually provide the meal.

1-2 needed

3rd Shift

6pm to 9pm

· Same as 1st shift with added duties of tear down and storage of equipment in band room for next day.

· Empty coolers, bag used towels

· Help get equipment back to band room.

Note: Kids are getting tired and cranky at this point so the more parental units the better.

3 to 5, but more would be better.

Laundry

Night

Volunteer to take a bag of wet towels home, wash (no Clorox), dry and bring back the next day. Do not fold, just put them back in a bag and send ‘em back, clean.

2 to 3 would carry the load – no pun intended

SIGNING UP

To sign up, please reply to ghsbandnews@gmail.com with the following 3 pieces of information:

Volunteer Name

Date you would like to volunteer

Specific shift for which you would like to volunteer

All offers will be recorded and a master schedule will then be created and sent out the week before Band Camp 2 begins.

We are juggling some vacation schedules here as we work to get this schedule set, so it would be most helpful if you would submit your volunteer offers AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Thanks again, everyone, and we look forward to seeing you at camp!
