Volunteers Needed for Band Camp II

We need volunteers for the GHS Band Camp II -- August 8th, August 10th-14th!

FOOD: The GHS Band and Guard needs parents to donate some supplies: bananas, apples, bread, peanut butter, jelly, some bottled water, and Gatorade mix.

PEOPLE: We typically have at least four parents from 9am to 1pm to set up tents and supplies (coolers for drinks and icy towels, snacks, sunscreen) and to provide "eyes" and some first-aid help. Since we are not expecting Dr. Berry this year (he has a year off before his younger child starts 9th grade), our children would really benefit from any medical experts (physician, nurse, EMT) who can be on site. Dr. Berry frequently walked the field to look for signs of overheating or exhaustion. Sometimes a morning volunteer will have to leave early, but we need someone to chaperone the cafeteria at lunch (noon). Mr. Pirzer likes to have a 1pm to 5pm crew of two adults for lunch clean-up, first aid, and dinner monitors. This is a quiet time because the musicians are inside. We definitely need help at lunch (noon to 1pm from the morning crew) and dinner (5pm to 6pm from the evening crew). Our evening crew (5pm to end of day at 9pm) of three or four helps with dinner monitoring, dinner clean-up, first aid, and carrying supplies back to the band room or cafeteria. Help is always appreciated from parents who arrive to watch and transport children home.

WASHING THE TOWELS: Finally, we need one or two volunteers each night to take home and wash the "icy towels."

Please e-mail Bruce Jennings to let him know when you're planning to work so he can make sure the time slots are covered and not overbooked. The students and instructors will appreciate your time and energy. bruce@ehsfamily.com (this is an e-mail address and not a link).
